Pure Evil is an honorary Pearly King..

.. and his 'Pearly King in Battersea Park' pays homage to this charitable band of elaborately dressed Londoners, available at Nelly Duff.

The artist's masterful manipulation of historic imagery causes the viewer to question what they are seeing - is this an image of London in a time gone by, or a modern portrait of the East End's own royalty?

'Arthur Miller's Nightmare'..

Taken from the artist’s ‘Nightmare’ series, Pure Evil draws upon the iconic portraits of Andy Warhol which now define the bold line-work and block colour of the Pop Art movement..

Pure Evil’s artwork reveals a sinister slant to an image deeply engrained in the modern conscious- that of Ms Marilyn Monroe- in an effort to uncover a layer of truth hidden behind the celebrity makeup. The artwork shows the starlett’s mask both physically and metaphorically slipping, topped off with the provocative title 'Arthur Miller’s Nightmare' directly referring to Monroe’s failed marriage to the famed playwrite. Live East, Die.. Letter- Press!

Pure Evil has carefully honed his own bold brand of statement making- seamlessly combining age old imagery with distinctly modern sentiment.

Now available at
#NellyDuff, the provocative assertion ‘Live East, Die Young’ has been reinterpreted in the artist's letter- press debut..

'Each Deconstructed Nightmare no.3'

Pure Evil's 'Each Deconstructed Nightmare no.3' is a hand-pulled beauty of a screen-print!

With bold line work and use of concentrated, block colour reminiscent of Roy Lichtenstein's bomb-shell beauties, we suggest you come by the Nelly Duff gallery to take a closer look ;)

Pure Evil 'New Logo for Hackney Looting Team'

Pure Evil's artwork 'The New Logo for the Hackney Looting Team' is soon to be available at the Nelly Duff gallery.

The artist's topical take on the iconic sports day makes a very literal comment upon the gentrification of London's traditional East End, clearing the way for the corporate stampede that threatens to steal away the city we love, as well as parodying assumptions made about the area's residence who continually find themselves displaced amid the redevelopment..

WORD!

The 'cleansing' of East London's infamously art lined streets and the apparent dislodging of locals from their own communities, both emotionally and physically, has become an ever more contentious topic ahead of the fast approaching London Olympic celebrations- very eloquently highlighted by Pure Evil, and other contributors in yesterday's Evening Standard..

Live East, Die Pearly!

Nelly Duff was delighted to be graced with the presence of the Pearly Kings and Queens of London last night, featured in Pure Evil's recent 'Pure Evil in the Ruins of the Bank of England.'

The Pearlies dedicate themselves to fund raising for various charities and were out in force for this week's 'Christmas Wednesday' when we were lucky enough to have them recreate the image for us, take a look for yourself!

Latest from Pure Evil!

Pure Evil’s deviant dabblings with antique printed imagery and historic references are a constant source of fascination for Nelly, most recently in his ‘Bank of England’ piece which confronts the viewer with an all too graphic representation of state of our (not so fair) city.

Indeed, one of Pure Evil's latest, a 2 colour fade screenprint, picks up where Toulouse Lautrec's lithographs of 1800’s Paris once led the most disenchanted of individuals. Printed on a 308 GSM Somerset deckled paper stock, 'Underworld's sensuous imagery beckons you down a darkened alley of scandal, intrigue, and absolutely no return- but we ain't complaining..

Return of the Killer Rabbit.

Pure Evil has returned to the gallery with his latest eery offering. Following on from the hugely popular 'In the Pillory' print, this brand spanking new piece, featuring the artist's characteristic 'Pearly kings' and hand-sprayed butterfly figure, is already a popular favourite at Nelly and guaranteed to keep you hanging!
