Catch the rabbit..

Exclusive to Nelly Duff, Gaia's captivating 'White Rabbit' is a lino cut artwork- created by carving a negative image into lino panel, which is then inked and carefully transferred onto a beautifully soft mulberry rag stock.

The artist often divides his compositions between several large panels, creating an exaggerated seam which runs through each artwork, and forms a distinctive feature of Gaia's lino cut out-put to date.

'Open Walls', Baltimore.

'Open Walls' Baltimore is a public project set up by street artist, Gaia. The initiative aims to enliven the streets of the artist's hometown, blighted by a remarkably high concentration of dis-used and derelict housing.

The event's roster boasts some of the finest known artists of the street art world, including Nelly Duff's own Momo, Swoon, and of course Gaia.
Public artworks will be continually created until May 25th when a final day celebration will be held to mark the achievement. Man, we wish we could be there!

If all this action is just a tad too far across the Atlantic, how about something abit closer to home? We are thrilled to say, Gaia will also be contributing some original pencil drawings, to be displayed at Nelly's latest exhibition at 'Pick Me Up' Artfair, Somerset House- 22nd March to the 1st of April!

Not to be sniffed at!

Nelly never fails to be impressed by the technically brilliant creations of Gaia, whose latest artwork has hopped, skipped and jumped right into the Nelly Duff window! This youthful talent seems to find notoriety wherever he goes and ‘White Rabbit’ is yet another skilfully rendered, hand burnished lino-cut from the zaniest spark of North American street art.

We are excited to say, Gaia will be contributing some original artwork to Nelly Duff's next exhibition, at a certain central London graphic arts fair at the end of March- more details coming soon, so be sure to keep your noses to the ground..

Tiger Lion from Gaia

We are really pleased to have this striking new hand burnished edition from Gaia in the gallery. The first image is his Lino block sketched out and the second is our lush new print on mangeled cotton mulberry paper. Have a read of the below text from Gaia's blog

The Lion/Rabbit hybrid is a seemingly innocuous image but represents the subversion of the Urban Planner. Le Corbusier, one of the strongest identities in modernist architecture, took a paternalist approach to planning with the notion that the lion is the architect, the master, and the masses are the rabbits. Rarely does the contemporary urban landscape develop organically but is instead defined by the clamor of contending agendas and legislation. This image and its dissemination throughout neighborhoods all over the world is the embodiment of the resolutions and failures of planners to control the incredible mess and natural logic that is the city.

Deny me three times on the streets of SF

Gaia has gone large with his work in SF. What meanings can you read into the Rooster and his fingers... something to do with the father, The son and holy spirit...

The images show Gaia's fantastic mix of skills on paper and aerosol, the placement and respect to the environment. His appetite and guts for scale and most of all substance..
