Flower Landscape..

Sam Chivers’ graphic artworks plunge the viewer into an alternative universe, referring to the pseudo realistic world of vintage computer games to create images that dismiss the realms of reality, yet still retain a comforting familiarity.

'Flower Landscape' presents the viewer with a forever undulating world of lush green plains and meandering rivers, featuring the delicately rendered, hand screen-printed detail that has come to characterise the artist’s output, available Nelly Duff

'End Game of Nothing.'

Sam Chivers' artworks are an exploration; both of the technical possibilities of screen-printing, and the deeply personal world of the artist's own dreams.

In the ethereal landscape 'End Game of Nothing', layers of half toning are graduate

d to suggest depth and a tantalizing view of a world beyond these abstracted forms. Yet the shallow, almost claustrophobic picture plane and skewed perspective simultaneously pushes the viewer right back to reality..

Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of Sam Chivers, and the rules are.. there are no rules!

Chivers' secrets..

Heres a little press snap of Sam Chiver's 'Crystal Virus' piece in a suitably left of centre interior.

Not so long ago, Sam bent our ear about the motivation behind some of these beautifully elegant, yet slightly menacing pieces. Drawing inspiration from the rigidity of mathematic formulae and the uniquely 80s logic of vintage video games, to the surreal and intensely personal world of his own dreams- its all about conflicting shapes, halftone overlays and ethereal perspective- and we think its genius!

Never say Nelly doesn't share..
